UK Abortions Climb to Record High

In England and Wales, a record proportion of pregnancies are ending in abortion. The latest government figures for 2018 reveal that almost a quarter of all conceptions were terminated. It used to be one in five; now it’s nearly one in four. This was up from 22.7% in 2017 and marked the highest percentage since records began three decades ago.
The British Office for National Statistics (ONS) published data which showed that just under 24 percent of known pregnancies in England and Wales end in abortion. Women aged 20-24 are increasingly likely to have abortions.
