Pro-Life Centres Help Mums
20.01.2023
Today there are almost 3,000 pro-life pregnancy resource centres in the United States, 25 percent of their nearly 15,000 paid staff members are licensed medical professionals, and their client satisfaction rate in exit surveys is an exceptional 99.6 percent. So writes veteran national pro-life leader Chuck Donovan in the January-February 2023 issue of Columbia, the magazine of the Knights of Columbus, the US-based Catholic men’s fraternal and charitable order.
Mr Donovan cites the best and happiest statistics of all when he writes, “… pregnancy help centres saved the lives of more than 820,000 infants from 2016 to 2020.” He then makes this forecast: “Laws enacted or revived since the US Supreme Court Dobbs decision in June are estimated to protect an additional 200,000 babies a year once implemented.”
What is more, writes Mr Donovan, “Eight in 10 US locations offer free ultrasounds for pregnancy confirmation. Centres provided 486,213 ultrasounds in 2019, the most recent year for which full data is available.” He continues: “Hundreds of centres offer abortion pill reversal, which has saved more than 4,000 babies from chemical abortion.”
Mr Donovan adds that centres are supplying longer-term help for mums, including housing and support services, as well as “mentorship, job training, housing, health services and legal support”. In addition, pro-life state governments are increasing funding for their already existing support services for mums.
All of these facts about pro-life pregnancy help centres paint a picture far different from the entirely false smears that pro-abortion lawmakers continue to level against devoted pro-lifers.
