Pro-Abortion Doctors at IFPA-funded Event
30.06.2017
The Irish Family Planning Association (the Irish affiliate of the Planned Parenthood abortion business) brought a group of well-known pro-abortion doctors to Dublin for an event to coincide with the publication of the Citizens’ Assembly report recommending the legalisation of unrestricted abortion in Ireland.
Speakers at the event included Sir Sabaratnam Arulkumaran, who chaired the inquiry into the death of Savita Halappanavar—whose death from sepsis in 2012 has been regularly used to argue for the legalisation of abortion in Ireland. He claimed that laws restricting abortion do not reduce their incidence, despite the fact that Ireland’s abortion rate is dramatically lower than Britain’s.
Another speaker was Dr Gilda Sedgh, a researcher at the Planned Parenthood-founded Guttmacher Institute, who was invited to address the Citizens’ Assembly. She claimed that countries with the lowest abortion rates, and those where rates have declined the most, were those with liberal abortion laws.
The meeting was chaired by Dr Jennifer Donnelly, Consultant Obstetrician / Gynaecologist at the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin. It was organised on behalf of the All-Party Oireachtas Interest Group on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights by the Irish Family Planning Association (IFPA), the secretariat of the group which is chaired by Labour TD Jan O’Sullivan.
