March for Life: ‘Next Steps’

The 50th Annual March for Life, in Washington, DC, on January 20, will also have taken place by the time you receive this issue. Its theme was, “Next Steps: Marching Forward in a Post-Roe America”. The March always takes place on or near the anniversary of the US Supreme Court’s infamous Roe v Wade pro-abortion dictate of January 22, 1973. 

Because the Supreme Court overthrew Roe last June 24 in Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the destination of this year’s March was Capitol Hill, the seat of the US Congress—or more precisely, between Congress and the Supreme Court. The reason for that, say the organisers of the March, is to pressurise US senators and representatives to seek to protect existing pro-life laws, to forestall new pro-abortion laws and to help fortify the Culture of Life. 

The organisers were optimistic that this year’s March would be as large as ever so the anti lifers could not claim there was any drop-off in pro-life strength and determination. We will update you on this and all aspects of the next April issue. 

March for Life Speakers 

Slated to headline the March for Life rally’s speakers was Tony Dungy, a National Football League Hall of Fame player and head coach. He and his wife Lauren have 11 children, eight of them adopted. Also to appear was the attorney general of Mississippi, Mrs Lynn Fitch, who initiated the Roe-slaying case, Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization. Sister Mary Casey O’Connor of the Sisters of Life, whose twin sister Casey has Down syndrome, was to speak as well. Bishop Michael Burbidge of Arlington, Virginia, was to offer the opening prayer and Franklin Graham, son of the late evangelist Billy Graham, the closing prayer. Jonathan Roumie, who is Jesus in the series The Chosen, was also to speak.
