Irish Government Sends €2.3 Million in Taxpayer Funds to Wealthy U.S. Abortion Giant

28.03.2025

In a revelation that has deeply shocked many across the country, it has emerged that the Irish Government allocated €2.3 million of taxpayers’ money to the U.S.-based abortion organisation, Planned Parenthood — one of the world’s wealthiest and most controversial NGOs, and the largest abortion providers on the planet.

This startling information came to light following a parliamentary question submitted by Independent TD Carol Nolan, who has consistently raised concerns about government funding of abortion-related activities, both domestically and internationally.

For those unfamiliar, Planned Parenthood is not a struggling charity in need of Irish support. According to its most recent annual report, the organisation brought in over $2 billion (USD) in total funding in 2023. And yet, Irish taxpayers — many of whom object strongly to abortion — were forced to contribute millions to help further their global operations.

Even more disturbing is the fact that Planned Parenthood has faced serious allegations over the years, including claims that it has been involved in the sale of body parts from aborted babies — accusations backed by investigative reporting and video evidence that sparked outrage across the globe. Its global affiliate, the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), is known for aggressively promoting abortion access in developing nations, often pushing abortion where it is culturally or legally resisted.

This funding decision highlights a troubling pattern: Irish taxpayer money is being funnelled into NGOs with radical abortion agendas — both at home and abroad — while genuine life-affirming services and family supports remain underfunded or ignored.

It also raises a critical question: Why is the Irish Government sending money to one of the richest abortion providers in the world, while turning a blind eye to the pain and trauma abortion causes so many women — and the lives lost as a result?

At a time when we are fighting to retain the 3-day reflection period in Ireland, a safeguard that may save 1,500 lives each year, the government’s actions speak volumes. Instead of promoting life-saving care and support for women in crisis, they are funding international abortion giants.

This is not just a misuse of public funds — it is a betrayal of our values.

The Irish people deserve answers. More importantly, they deserve a government that respects life — not one that bankrolls its destruction.
