Family & Life Addresses Citizens' Assembly

Representatives of Family & Life have appeared before the Citizens’ Assembly to argue in defence of the 8th Amendment. You can watch the video here or read the text of the presentation here. Family & Life was critical of the Assembly process which, it argued, lacked balance and was failing to give due regard to the rights of the unborn. Family & Life’s representatives laid out briefly the case for keeping the 8th Amendment unchanged, as argued more fully in the organisation’s earlier written submission to the Assembly. They particularly stressed that a fundamental human right such as the right to life of the unborn should not be subject to a popular vote.
