Our Recent Washington DC Visit

For over 30 years, Family & Life has maintained strong ties with pro-life NGOs and members of the US Congress. Three Speakers of the House have assisted us in defending life and family. With a new Republican administration and growing awareness in the US about European restrictions on free speech and life issues, this is a crucial moment for deeper collaboration.

A heartfelt thank-you to all who supported this delegation—your generosity made it possible. Here's a brief snapshot of some key meetings and outcomes from our visit. Many discussions remain confidential, including an important one with the Vice President’s senior staff. Vice President Vance’s recent speech in Munich confirmed his awareness of efforts to curtail freedom in Ireland and across Europe.

Our delegation focused on building support for Ireland’s pro-life cause—especially in resisting the government’s push to abolish current abortion restrictions.

Congressman Riley Moore
Congressman Moore, a committed Catholic with Irish roots, shared his deep concern about Ireland and the direction the Irish government has taken in the its radical abortion agenda.

Appalled by the defeat of the foetal pain relief bill, he pledged support for our campaign to extend the abortion waiting period from 3 to 7 days. He also committed to raising awareness through the Friends of Ireland Caucus and co-hosting a webinar on Ireland’s abortion crisis. We’re now working with him on a joint petition to encourage the Irish Government to strengthen pro-life protections.

Congressman Chris Smith
A steadfast ally since 1994, Congressman Smith reaffirmed his full support for our mission. He will assist in our waiting-period campaign, write letters to pro-life TDs and Senators, and is considering a return visit to Ireland.

Heritage Foundation
In our meeting with the Heritage Foundation, we began planning a joint investigation into how US taxpayer money—via USAID—has funded Irish pro-abortion NGOs. This collaboration could significantly raise awareness among Irish-American pro-lifers and expose how these groups helped dismantle Ireland’s pro-life laws.

Alliance Defending Freedom & Media Outreach
ADF pledged to amplify Irish pro-life issues in US media. The Daily Wire is ready to report on these stories, and Americans United for Life also offered legal and advocacy support.

Our intensive, week-long visit included politicians from both Irish jurisdictions, staff and interns, all working non-stop for life. We are deeply grateful to those who joined us and to the donors who made this possible. Lives will be saved because of your support.
