President Trump Declares National Day of Prayer

As we have noted before, this space does not endorse or even focus on allthat President Donald Trump says and does. We look solely at his pro-life words and deeds. With that in mind, a look at the Coronavirus outbreak and the complaints about the leadership of Mr Trump will shed some light on abortion politics; more on this below. President Declares a National Day of Prayer But first: In declaring Sunday, March 15, a National Day of Prayer because of the Coronavirus, President Trump tweeted on March 13, “We are a Country that, throughout our history, has looked to God for protection and strength in times like these” and, “No matter where you may be, I encourage you to turn towards prayer in an act of faith. Together, we will easily PREVAIL!” The next day, March 14, Mr Trump issued the presidential proclamation for that occasion, “National Day of Prayer for All Americans Affected by the Coronavirus Pandemic and for our National Response Efforts”. The proclamation reads, in part:

In our times of greatest need, Americans have always turned to prayer to help guide us through trials and periods of uncertainty. As we continue to face the unique challenges posed by the Coronavirus pandemic, millions of Americans are unable to gather in their churches, temples, synagogues, mosques, and other houses of worship. But in this time we must not cease asking God for added wisdom, comfort, and strength, and we must especially pray for those who have suffered harm or who have lost loved ones…

As one Nation under God, we are greater than the hardships we face, and through prayer and acts of compassion and love, we will rise to this challenge and emerge stronger and more united than ever before. May God bless each of you, and may God bless the United States of America. Democrats Dispute and Divide

But Democratic politicians and their de facto public relations arm, the news media, far from supporting the Presidency and uniting Americans in our country’s time of need, have been undercutting the President, wrongly accusing him of “not caring” and “incompetence”. This, never mind that during the Swine Flu pandemic of 2009-2010, which sickened 604,000 Americans and took 18,000 lives, the same politicians and the same news media lauded Barack Obama for acting with less speed and efficiency than Mr Trump—who, by the way, has been following the best medical advice and has been taking giant steps to fight the Coronavirus, including forming a high-powered government and private enterprise partnership of experts and proclaiming a National State of Emergency.

Why do They Hate Him?
If you have not heard the latest news framed this way, you are not alone; neither have the many Americans who read or listen to only the mainstream news. Many in the Democratic Party and the news media are unrelenting in their attacks on President Trump, which include spiking good news about him, putting the worst possible interpretations on everything else—and, not least, lying and irrational vituperation and name-calling.

They do this for two reasons: they still cannot accept the highly inconvenient reality that Donald Trump beat their darling, Hillary Clinton, for the presidency in 2016, and they literally hate him for being pro-life.

The Coronavirus crisis provides a prime example of the misrepresentations about Mr Trump. Some CNN broadcasters, and others on the Left, have insisted that at first he called the Coronavirus “a hoax”. That is completely false. As fact-checker sites verify, he called the Democrats’ immediate attempts to politicise the crisis “their new hoax”—not the virus.

Also false is the claim that the President “abolished a pandemic response office”. The reality: two teams were merged into one to make them even more efficient.

There have been two exceptions to the Democrat chorus of condemnation of President Trump. Governors Andrew Cuomo of New York and Gavin Newsom of California both have praised the President for his response to the Coronavirus—Cuomo praising him for his “rapid” actions and Newsom thanking him for giving him “everything I want” for his state. Even radical Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had some praise for the President.
