Irish MEP Kathy Sinnott to Speak in Tipperary on Threat to Life
PRO-LIFE MEP KATHY SINNOTT TO SPEAK IN TIPPERARY ON THREAT TO LIFE
TWENTY-five years after the passing of a prolife amendment to the Irish Constitution threats to the Ireland's stance on the protection of life continue . A public meeting in the Excel Arts and Culture Centre in Tipperary later this month will address these subjects.
Irish MEP KATHY SINNOTT, will address the people of South Tipperary from 8pm on Friday, January 30 and expose the real threat not only the unborn but also to the elderly, the impoverished and vulnerable people in the EU and how Ireland could soon lose it's ability to remain abortion-free.
"Life is our first and fundamental human right. Without Life no other human right is possible," said Mrs Sinnott, a member of the Bioethics Intergroup in the European Parliament.
"Only a few people are aware that last week the European Parliament passed a resolution calling for the legal recognition of 'sexual and reproductive rights' (a term which includes abortion) in the charter of Fundamental rights which is part of the Lisbon treaty."
"We must actively promote life by cherishing children, helping mothers and families, especially when they struggle with difficulties, recognising the giftedness of people with disabilities, people who are old and those who are sick, poor or in someway vulnerable."
Mrs Sinnott will be joined on the night by Bernadette Goulding, the founder of Rachel's Vineyard in Ireland who offers retreats and support for post abortive women and men.
"Another challenge for those who are committed to promoting a respect for life is a loving outreach to those mothers, fathers, grandparents, friends, siblings who have been hurt by abortion," continued Mrs Sinnott.
Ms Goulding will talk about her experience of abortion and the work of Rachel's Vineyard in helping families to heal after abortion.
Mrs Sinnott will further discuss the two new challenges to the Irish pro-life culture; embryo destruction (as practised in embryonic stem cell research) and euthanasia. Although the latter has not yet been much debated in Ireland, other European countries have legalised the practice.
Light refreshments will be provided. Admission is free.
